ITS Migrations

While working at RIT Information Technology Services I migrated many institute sites from their old web environment to their new one. Migrating a site entailed:

  • moving the files from the old server to a staging server
  • fixing file permissions
  • converting all PHP3 scripts so that they would work in PHP5 with no errors or warnings
  • editing links to conform with the new URL structure
  • making sure all links worked, validating the pages (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
  • moving the files from the staging server to the production server.

Below is a partial list of sites I migrated while working at RIT ITS; there are more, these are just the ones I can confirm I worked on. Please note that by now these sites have most likely been edited by someone else.

Firefox 3 Launch Party at RIT/Download Day 2008

Tonight I’m hosting a launch party for Firefox 3 since the final version is being released today. Here’s some links for more info:

Today is also Download Day 2008. Mozilla is trying to set a Guiness World Record for the most software downloads in one day, and so far 1,599,887 have already pledged to download Firefox 3 today, Tuesday June 17th, 2008. Pledge on the site, download FF3, and help set the world record!
